“Hinterland Waterhole 2”
50cm x 40cm
Acrylic on Canvas
I am blessed to live in one of the most beautiful locations on earth. Caught between some beautiful beaches that attract the tourists, and the breathtaking hinterland region.
Scattered through the hinterland are lots of waterfalls, creeks, rivers. The hot sun bakes the embankments but there is always a cool place to sit down and escape the hot humid days.
This painting represents my evolving style as my landscape work become less definitive and more abstracted.
Pushing the boundaries further on my Hinterland Waterhole series.
These semi abstract landscapes are my attempt to capture the raw beauty of some of the locations around the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Hinterland.
Its lush and green whilst being dry and baron. Abundant foliage and undergrowth contrasted against red earth and ancient jagged rock formations.
Intense rain fall mixed with long periods of no rain and harsh dry conditions that lead to ever increasing fire danger as we saw last week.
Some days it's so hot and humid it will dry your mouth out while soaking your clothes in perspiration.
Often the hike through the at times confusing mix of dry forest and rain forest can wear you out ... but its all worthwhile when you fund yourself sitting by a cool stream in the shade of the trees.
Note - This painting is unframed but ready to hang with a hanging wire on the back. Please be aware that my painting style is loose and impressionistic ... as such the edges are not neatly finished as that would detract from the style and spontaneity of the painting approach.
