“Monet - After The Gates Close at Giverny”
40cm x 50cm
Oil on Canvas
One of the greatest experiences of my life was to visit Monet's home in Giverny.
It was a surreal and inspiring time walking through his home, amongst the gardens, around his lakes and across his Japanese inspired bridges. To stand in the same location that he stood and painted some of the most iconic paintings of all time was a great moment for me.
With the passage of time though memories fade. So from time to time I like to forget about everything and immerse myself in recollecting those memories through paint.
As I was standing on the banks of the lake taking in the reflections in the water I was struck with the rather unusual thought "I wonder what goes on here after the last tourist leaves for the day and the gates are closed for the night"
Note - This painting is unframed but ready to hang with a hanging wire on the back. Please be aware that my painting style is loose and impressionistic ... as such the edges are not neatly finished as that would detract from the style and spontaneity of the painting approach.
